[Salon] UN General Assembly vote on the State of Palestine

The vote has just occurred:

FOR -- 143

AGAINST -- 9

ABSTENTIONS -- 25

This vote effectively accords to the State of Palestine, exceptionally, all the significant rights and privileges of a member state except the right to vote in the General Assembly.

It also confirms the divorce and isolation of the United States from the moral and ethical conscience of mankind, a divorce and isolation which risks making the United States a pariah state on the same level as Israel in the eyes of most of mankind.

The American people should demand an explanation as to how this serves their interests.
